July! The Month of the Parents

mom-with-baby-tennis-courtTime to switch gears and focus on family fun.

July is the vacation.

Continued warm and hot.

Lots of people travel,

And swimming hits the spot.

All during May, we enjoyed the spirit of what mothers do, and it was a lot. After taking all of this  into consideration, it became clear that mothers are non-stop protectors. You say challenge, and a mother says, how hard? She is always 100% ready to do anything and everything for the well-being of her child.

Then in June, we focused on fathers and all the new, interesting, and different ways that they care for their children. “Substitute mom?” Don’t even think of it. They know just what to do, when to do it, and in just the right way!  Very cool.

What’s up now? Parents! That’s our idea. It is a new and different concept, and it is great. First, I refer you to Rosalind Sedacca. She is our specialist who is known as the “Voice of Child-centered Divorce.” She could not be more clear in all her writings how important it is for parents to work together on behalf of their children. I highly recumbent her book EMBRACING A CHILD-CENTERED DIVORCE: BECAUSE YOU LOVE YOUR CHILDREN by Rosalind Sedacca (Aug 16, 2013). She has many other books.

Next I steer you over to another one of our specialists Hogan Hilling. He is well-known in the world of parenting as “The Dad Guru.” He also has written several other books, and today I refer you to his newest one Dads Behaving Dadly: 67 Truths, Tears and Triumphs of Modern Fatherhood by Hogan Hilling and Al Watts (Jun 15, 2014).

Back to parents, here’s the key… having their own best relationship possible. Children love that and do their best with it.

July! The Month of the Parents

Much more to come in July about parents and parenting. No one lives on an island. Working together is the way to go!

  1. Divorce is such a challenging time in our lives. Regardless of how we feel about our former spouse, we must remember that our children love both their parents. Don’t force them into taking sides or feeling guilty about loving their other parent (even when you put them down!). Creating a Child-Centered Divorce is a gift for your children that they deserve and will thank you for down the road. Learn the lessons I share in my books and courses. You’ll never regret it!

    • Great idea to make July “Parents Month.” Thanks for sharing information about the Dads Behaving Dadly book. My co-author, Al Watts, and I have an agreement to publish Dadly book #2. Submit your dad story at http://www.dadsbehavngdadly.com. You may submit up to three stories. We also have an agreement to publish an “Aussie Dads Behaving Dadly” and “Canadian Dads Behaving Dadly” book.

  2. As we continue to present July as the “Month of the Parents,” we find that parenting as a concept is taking on a life of its own. Parenting skills is taking over as the complete theme for “Wednesday Evening Wine.” Our goal here on “Parenting Tips with Dr. Sally” is to teach parenting as a skill. Join us at the beginning of every week on MT&W for important information that is designed to help you in July and for the rest of your life to be skilled at parenting. As you can well-imagine, the rewards will be amazing
