Play Sounds and Your Baby!

Activity 39: Rattle, Tattle, Too!

Age Range: Birth to three Months

Area being Developed: Cognitive… Learning!

Take turns with a rattle, bell, or keys. First you shake it and watch your baby respond. Then let your baby shake it for you to respond. Help your baby as much or as little as is needed. Take turns back and forth. Play and create.

Dr. Sally Says…

One of the first play sounds a newborn will hear is of a rattle. Recommended is one with clear plastic so that your baby can see what is making the sound. Soft bells and the clink of keys work great too.
