While the growth of stay-at-home dads continues at an astounding rate, more and more dads are giving their own stamp to this new and different role. No more settling for being a “substitute mom.” Dads today are finding innovative, interesting, and fulfilling ways to enjoy their young children.

In many ways a whole new lifestyle is emerging for dads. One dad teaches his little one how to take care of a car. Another focuses on how to do small repairs around the house. Still a third makes toys for his child instead of buying them.

Along with all these changes, the term “buddy” has come under new scrutiny. Some experts take offense with a dad using it with his son, but others see the camaraderie of it. Still others think it is one of the best ways there is to create important guy-to-guy bonding.
