Now you can have your research… and use it too!

Kudos to the College of Human Ecology at Cornell University! They have just opened a new center that will focus on solving a problem that has existed in our society for a very long time–doing research without implementing the results. It is probably hard to believe, but…

• Much of our research, which is very expensive to say the least, is never used.

• Many of our programs intended to benefit children, youth, elders, and families are not scientifically tested.

• Insights from research are rarely used systematically to guide the development of new programs.

The initiative at Cornell will now change that. Their idea is not only to continue to do cutting-edge research but also to use the findings as soon as possible. That is good news!
