Parenting Insight…
“Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.”
— John F. Kennedy, Inauguration Speech, 1961
You would be hard-pressed to find an adult today who does not know these famous words.
Tip 15
Introduce your child with love to the true rewards of giving.
Teach your child these famous words of John F. Kennedy. Then change the word country to fit your own situation–family, school, class, friends, club, organization, etc.
You don’t have to wait for the holidays to give your child the gift of giving. Once your child learns this new perspective, he or she will enjoy a deeper level of life at all times. While receiving is finite, the sky is the limit for how much you can give. From being as simple as lending a hand to person who needs your help to as complicated as giving 10 hours a week of your time to a local charity, the happiness on the other end is limitless.
