Tip 39 – Teach your child to have a satisfied feeling before going to sleep.
As you two reflect on the day, choose a pleasant event. It could range anywhere from a major accomplishment all the way to a routine occurrence like a walk in the park. Then talk about it. The idea is to bring a comforting thought to the fore of your child’s mind as a way of calming him or her before sleep. Here are some examples:
- Riding a bicycle.
- Singing a song.
- Helping a friend.
