Tip 43 – Help your child to have as many positive experiences each day as possible.
Be positive. While it is easy to point out when something goes wrong, it is more difficult to notice when all is well. Turn yourself into a success detective. Outwardly acknowledge simple things like putting an item in the right place or sitting up straight at a table. Just the simple act of letting your child know that you are aware of his good behavior will make him or her feel happy and important. Just these small acknowledgments will help to create more and more happy times for you both.
All experiences find their way into memory. Once in memory, they continue to affect future behavior. Positive experiences lead to more positive ones, and that is the goal.
