Tip 83 – Practice memory skills with your child right in the comfort of your own home… in any room.
Sit together with your child on a comfortable couch or in another favorite spot. Then take turns naming objects in a selected category. Always repeat what has been said and then add your new item. Here is an example of the way it works.
Child – Green cup
Parent – Green cup, green vase
Child – Green cup, green vase, green dish
Parent – Green cup, green vase, green dish, green castle
Choose great categories. That is your key to this game. Here are some popular ones: green (or any color), round, wooden, hard, soft, big and small. You may think of others.
Parenting Insight…
Name up to five items at any one time and then switch to a new category.
