Parenting Insight…
You know that “bad mood” feeling? No one likes having it. While handling your own is difficult, it is doubly worse when you have to go through your child’s too. However, there is an excellent way to help your child re-focus.
Tip 32 – Teach your child how to bring back positive feelings as soon as possible.
Here is a technique that you can share with your child. One at a time, call out different people, places, or things that your child really likes. After each one tell your child to say happy thoughts about each one. Add your own as well. Here are some examples:
- Grandma
- The front yard
- Playing in the snow
Take turns thinking up different ones. Soon both you and your child will realize that the “bad mood” feeling has become a thing of the past.
